The Story behind Stephen Schwarzman

If you haven’t heard of Steve Schwarzman, you should give this your full attention. In 2008 Steve was ranked the fifty third most wealthy person in the country issued by Forbes Magazine, however it’s not simply money that makes this story absorbing but Steve’s undreamt of success in the business world and his patronage of the liberal arts. Stephen’s story illustrates that the keys to succeeding in business are indeed work and unequivocal persistence.

In 1985 he co-founded the Blackstone Group with his business partner Peter Peterson; initially as a private equity and financial advisory business. The firm has grown from strength to strength and today is colossal in the mergers and acquisitions sector.

After calling Philadelphia home for much of his childhood and adolescence, Steve Schwarzman attended high school in the School District of Abington. He graduated from Abington Senior High School; afterwards he received his degree from the legendary Connecticut University, Yale in 1969. After that, he decided to further his education at the elevated Harvard Business School, graduating in 1972. After completing his higher education, Steve commenced his job in investment banking. By the unusually early age of thirty-one, he was already a director. Stephen A. Schwarzman gave his services as an assistant professor at the widely esteemed Yale School of Business Management as well as offering his patronage to many charities, education, and the liberal arts. Moreover, he is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the JFK Center for the Performing Arts in New York. In addition, to return even more to his community, Steve only last spring contributed to the New York Public Library a hundred million dollars to fund their recent building plans. Steve also serves the library as a trustee.

Steve is an inspiration to a new generation of Americans: Times Magazine last year appointed Steve Schwarzman as one of the 100 most influential people alive today. His mastery of the financial industry has been miraculous, not to mention the fact that his support of music and the arts has been an encouragement to everyone around him. So the world awaits Steve’s next project. To sum up, Steve has taken the best advantage of every last business opportunity offered to him and in return he has also used his fortune to cultivate his community.
