A True Bowling Student’s Paradise, the Local Bowling Alley
I regularly hear from a part-time bowler hoping to take on your neighborhood bowling league more seriously. When bowling is your goal, you’re approaching a key cross-roads in learning the game as a dedicated bowler. Our guide to bowling perfection shouldn’t be ignored. The guys at your city’s bowling pro shop want bowlers to uncover bowling talent. There’s an old bowling adage, you get back what you put in (from the ball return – hah). I kid. Okay, bowling is a simple game with not-so simple details. No worry, our bowling experts make sure you’re rolling down the right lane.
First, invest a little in properly-fitted equipment at your bowling pro shop! Rentals and house balls suck. I promise, have your private ball drilled, and you’ll bowl more consistently. A precision drilled bowling ball can make a substantial improvement in your game. Of course another critical matter is having quality bowling shoes which haven’t been worn out by a million people!
If you went ahead and bought the right bowling equipment, you’re ready for the number two piece of bowling advice: taking aim. When you wait to roll, don’t necessarily roll the ball at the pins. Aim for the the arrows like a sight on a firearm. Some greenhorn bowlers don’t even know they’re there. It is easier to roll through a target that is closer. To take full advantage, it should be your habit to aim from the exact spot on the wood with every roll. If you do it the same every time you can make small adjustements on your marksmanship.
What about massive hooks on the ball, to get specific action on the pins? It is another “Next Steps” bowling hint. The secret is the specialized bowling ball. A lot of professional bowlers carry at least two bowling balls to get aggressive hooks, according to where they are. Just a bit of caution: greenhorns might want to keep it simple, and avoid a ball that is too heavy for you. Many semi-pro bowlers roll bowling balls with extra expert grip. But these balls regularly make even decent pros look silly. With these tips you’re on the right track. There will be more shortly.

My friends and I bowl with Team “Pindemonium” comprised of a league for Bowling Pro Shop down in Las Vegas. I provide advice to novice bowlers on the web and at the lanes. Finally, I should wave hello at our crew in the shop. Sorry I can’t be there.
