A Jamaican Vacation
Jamaica is the Caribbean’s most visited tourist destinations and visitors to the place can’t stop raving about its beauty. The excellent weather, pristine beaches, tourist friendly locals with a laid-back lifestyle and first-rate hotels with great amenities all contribute to making it one of the most visited tourist destination in the Caribbean.
We were fortunate to visit Jamaica for our annual vacation last summer and stayed in a hotel right on a beach in Montego Bay, which has the reputation of being one of Jamaica’s most visited tourist destinations. Being near the beach was reason enough to tempt us to try out some water sports. What made us more enthusiastic was the fact that we could explore a variety of marine life. Most people suggested that we try snorkeling as it was the easiest way for beginners. They suggested the Doctor’s Cove Beach as it was one of the most visited tourist destination for snorkelers and had an added advantage of being easily accessible. In fact the tour operator from whom we rented equipment also suggested that we visit Doctor’s Cove Beach as most beginners found it easy to snorkel there.
Our trip was a huge success. We saw a number of squid, skates, parrot fish and coral underwater. Our guide definitely knew his job well and took good care of us. He asked us not to touch anything and to take care of where we put our feet. He gave us information about activities at the Montego Bay Marine Park such as scuba diving. The next time we take a trip we will definitely go a little further away from the shore and explore Seaworld and the Royal Reefs looking for wrasses, parrotfish and barjacks. We had loads of fun on our snorkeling trip and also bought some equipment for snorkeling in Ocho Rios and Negril. To be honest, I must say I enjoyed the Montego Bay snorkeling trip the most. Could it be because it was my first trip?
