Pashminas are rather useful for many types of occasions as they are easy to place in your shoulderbag if it gets too warm. The wool of the pashmina acts as a great insulator, so rather than dragging around a big coat on a chilly summer or spring evening, a pashmina shawl will suffice as a convenient outer garment.

Shawls have recently become really stylish as a fashion accessory for bridesmaids. The last few summers in the United Kingdom have been pretty cold, so perhaps this has advanced this new fashion. Gold pashminas as well as cream an white are fashionable choices for wedding ceremonies, and look wonderful if all the maids of honor have a matching colour shawl.

With a larger pashmina shawl, it can also act as a handy little blanket for those lengthy journeys. And of course, a pashmina can turn into a warm scarf for wintertime.

There are two types of shawl – the 100% pure pashmina shawl, and the 70% pashmina / 30% silk variety. The non-pure shawl you can buy at cheaper prices than the 100% wool counterpart, but it’s less warm. It’s your choice as to what you want to use your pashmina for. Is it just for fashion purposes, or also a garment to keep out the cold too? I advocate pure pashmina shawls to keep out the cold.
